Must와 Have to 차이

must와 have to는 ~해야 한다라고 해석되지만, must는 화자가 정한 의무인 반면, have to는 화자가 아닌 다른 사람에 의한 의무입니다. must는 화자의 감정이 담긴 표현이라고 하는군요.

 

Must means that the obligation to do something comes from the speaker. In other words, it’s not a rule. Have to implies that the obligation comes from someone else; it’s something the speaker can’t change. Additionally, must express the speaker’s feelings, whereas have to expresses, above all, an impersonal idea.

 

For example:

 

        I have to pay the bills because my wife is ill.

        I must stop smoking. It’s really bad for my health.
